‎Despite appearing at an APC event, former Ekiti Governor Ayodele Fayose declares unwavering support for President Tinubu and Governor Oyebanji while reaffirming his PDP loyalty.

‎In Ado-Ekiti, Former Ekiti State Governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart, Ayodele Fayose, has openly endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji for second terms in office, declaring his full support despite remaining a member of the opposition.

‎Speaking at an All Progressives Congress (APC) function held at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti, Fayose described the event as historic, noting the presence of all former Ekiti governors, National Assembly members, and key state leaders.“I want to join all well-meaning Nigerians, especially Ekiti leaders and followers, to publicly and wholeheartedly endorse President Bola Tinubu for a second term,” Fayose said. “Likewise, I endorse our Governor Abayomi Oyebanji and his deputy for a second term in office.”

‎Fayose, who served as Ekiti governor from 2003 to 2007 and again from 2014 to 2018, emphasized that his public support for the APC leaders should not be mistaken for defection from the PDP. “I am still in the PDP,” he asserted. “Endorsing the President and the Governor does not mean I have joined the APC.”

‎While pledging to work for Oyebanji’s reelection, Fayose threw a subtle challenge to political opponents, boasting about his political record. “Who will again become the record holder to win all 16 local government areas and 177 wards in Ekiti? That is taken for granted. But when we get to the field, we will contest and meet ourselves,” he said confidently.

‎He urged Ekiti residents to unite and mobilize massive support for the governor’s re-election bid, calling it a collective project that transcends party lines.

‎Despite backing Tinubu and Oyebanji, Fayose was quick to take a jab at the ruling APC, stating that it could not rival the PDP in delivering welfare and development to the people. Nonetheless, he affirmed his commitment to supporting the governor in the interest of Ekiti State.
