Gruesome Killing in Kogi State Capital Sparks Outrage and Manhunt
A young photojournalist, Aiyepeku Ayo, has been brutally murdered by his neighbor, Adebayo Pelumi, in a shocking and gruesome incident in Lokoja, Kogi State capital. The alleged killer reportedly dismembered the victim's body and attempted to conceal it in a freezer before fleeing the scene.
According to eyewitnesses, Pelumi lured Ayo to his poultry farm in the same compound, where he allegedly hit him with an iron rod, killing him instantly. The suspect then dismembered the body and placed it in a freezer, before locking up another witness in the compound and escaping with the freezer in his vehicle.
Security operatives have launched a massive manhunt for the suspect, who is said to have fled the scene after seeing the vigilante presence. The police recovered the vehicle and the freezer, but it was empty, suggesting that the suspect may have disposed of the body or handed it to an accomplice.
The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the incident and launched an investigation. The Commissioner of Police has directed that the case be transferred to the State CID for discreet investigation. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspect and bring him to justice.
The alleged killer, Adebayo Pelumi, is said to hail from Odo Akodi compound, Ekinrin-Adde, Ijumu local government area of Kogi State. The police are working to track him down and bring him to face the law.
