PDCRC DG Hails Establishment of GBV Case Management Committee as a Bold Step Towards Justice and Protection

‎The Director General of the Kogi State Public Defender and Citizens’ Rights Commission (PDCRC), Hon. Idris Onogo Esq, has applauded Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his unwavering commitment to safeguarding the rights and dignity of women and children across the state.

‎Speaking to journalists today in Lokoja, Hon. Idris commended the recent establishment of a Case Management Committee dedicated to handling matters related to Gender-Based Violence (GBV), child defilement, and family-related complaints. He described the move as a major milestone in the state’s efforts to promote justice, protection, and support for vulnerable groups.

‎The committee, launched by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development under the leadership of Commissioner Hon. (Haj) Fatimah Momoh, is tasked with offering psycho-social support to survivors, ensuring sensitive and professional handling of cases, and fostering a culture of respect for human dignity.

‎“This initiative clearly reflects the Governor’s resolve to build a just, inclusive, and protective society,” Hon. Idris stated. “It’s a strategic step that will go a long way in addressing deeply rooted social issues and restoring hope to survivors.”

‎The creation of the committee is part of a broader agenda under Governor Ododo’s leadership, which includes numerous policies and reforms aimed at improving the welfare and security of Kogi residents. The administration’s proactive approach to GBV is widely seen as a model for responsive governance in tackling social injustices.
