‎Kogi Political Landscape Shifts as Top APC Leaders Join PDP in Support of Senator Natasha

Mass defection rocks APC stronghold in Ihima, Okehi LGA, as Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan cements her growing influence in Kogi Central.

‎In a significant realignment of political forces in Kogi State, thousands of members and top-ranking leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the weekend, pledging their allegiance to Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. The defection, which took place in Ihima, a notable APC stronghold in Okehi Local Government Area, marks a major boost for the PDP and underscores Senator Natasha’s rising political clout across Kogi Central.

‎Among the prominent defectors were former Okehi Council Chairman Hon. Hassan Yusuf, Special Adviser to the Council Chairman Hajia Rafatu Haruna, and long-time APC stalwart Hon. Omuya Longman. They were accompanied by a large crowd of enthusiastic supporters who expressed readiness to work for the PDP’s success.

‎While receiving the new members, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan emphasized that her strategy hinges on strong grassroots mobilization.
‎“Politics is local, and that’s how we’re playing it,” she said. “We are building a solid PDP not just in Kogi Central but across Nigeria and the African continent.”

‎The lawmaker called on all political actors to embrace ideological clarity and reject violence.
‎“When ideology is absent, parties resort to intimidation and chaos. We must build parties on truth and values,” she stated.

‎PDP State Chairman, Hon. Enemona Anyebe, welcomed the defectors, describing the development as a major endorsement of Senator Natasha’s leadership and legislative contributions.
‎“This mass defection is a clear vote of confidence in Senator Natasha. The PDP is your new political home,” he affirmed.

‎Former House of Representatives member, Hon. Abdulrahman Badamasiu, echoed similar sentiments, noting that Senator Natasha’s commitment to service and compassion inspired the shift.
‎“Her achievements speak louder than words. Even political opponents can’t ignore her dedication to the people,” he said.

‎Other PDP stalwarts present to receive the defectors included Deputy State Chairman Alhaji Yahaya Karaku, State Secretary Sunday Olufemi Ibrahim, Publicity Secretary Alhaji Umar Ibrahim, State Auditor Hon. Jude Sule, and Women Leader Mrs. Esther Albert Soje.

‎The development signals a seismic shift in Kogi Central’s political dynamics and positions Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as a leading force ahead of future electoral contests.
