‎President Tinubu pays heartfelt tribute in Kano, calls late industrialist Aminu Dantata a national conscience and symbol of selfless service

‎President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described the passing of elder statesman and legendary philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, as a profound national loss, calling him a "titan of humanity" whose legacy of compassion and selfless giving will endure for generations.

‎During a deeply emotional condolence visit to the Dantata family in Kano on Friday, President Tinubu spoke with reverence about the late industrialist, remembering him as a personal mentor, a national treasure, and a man whose life was a living testimony to humility, service, and integrity.

‎“This is not just a public condolence; it is a personal loss,” Tinubu said. “Alhaji Dantata was family. His prayers, his wisdom, and his unmatched generosity shaped not just my journey, but the lives of countless Nigerians. Even in the afterlife, I believe he is still feeding the hungry and comforting the sick. That was who he was.”

‎Alhaji Aminu Dantata died in Dubai on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the age of 94, and was buried in the holy city of Madina, Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday, July 1. In the days following his death, his legacy of philanthropy and national unity has drawn tributes across party lines and regions.

‎President Tinubu, who arrived in Kano with top-ranking government officials, was welcomed by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and a large crowd of mourners bringing together political rivals from the APC and NNPP in a rare moment of shared grief.

‎Speaking further, the President recalled fond memories of the elder statesman's humility, including a moment when Dantata visited him in Abuja after the 2023 elections. “I had planned to visit him after my victory, but he beat me to it. That was the kind of man he was, always thinking of others first,” Tinubu reflected.

‎He urged Nigerians to carry forward the values Dantata embodied, calling on citizens to rise above divisions and emulate the late icon’s devotion to humanity. “We have lost the conscience of our country,” he said solemnly. “May Allah, in His infinite mercy, grant him Aljannah Firdaus.”

‎Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, speaking on behalf of Kano State, expressed deep gratitude for the President’s show of empathy and personal presence. He praised Tinubu’s swift action in deploying federal delegations to Saudi Arabia and Kano and for facilitating critical international arrangements related to the burial.

‎“Your visit here, despite the weight of your national responsibilities, speaks volumes,” Governor Yusuf said. “We appreciate your leadership and pray for continued wisdom and health as you lead Nigeria forward.”

‎The late Alhaji Aminu Dantata is remembered not only as a business magnate but also as a lifelong benefactor, community builder, and unifying figure whose legacy continues to inspire a nation in mourning.
