Real Madrid’s No. 9 Dilemma: Endrick and García Battle for Iconic Shirt as Mbappé Switches to No. 10 ‎

‎French star Kylian Mbappé set to wear Luka Modrić’s legendary No. 10 shirt, opening the door for Endrick or Gonzalo García to inherit the coveted No. 9.

‎Two Real Madrid rising stars, Endrick and Gonzalo García, are now the frontrunners to take over the club’s prestigious No. 9 shirt after Kylian Mbappé was confirmed to switch to No. 10 for the upcoming season.

‎According to Diario AS, teenage sensation Endrick was originally expected to inherit the No. 9 jersey. However, Gonzalo García’s standout performances during the Club World Cup have propelled him into strong contention, turning the decision into a two-horse race. As of now, the club has not made a final call.

‎The iconic No. 9 shirt became available after Real Madrid’s top brass insisted that Mbappé, who arrived this summer from Paris Saint-Germain, wear the No. 10 instead — the shirt recently vacated by veteran midfielder Luka Modrić.

‎Modrić, who spent over a decade at the Santiago Bernabéu, joined Serie A giants AC Milan as a free agent following the expiration of his contract. Initially, reports were suggesting that Mbappé and young talent Arda Güler were in line for the No. 10 shirt. However, despite Mbappé’s reluctance to give up the No. 9 he wore at PSG, Real Madrid’s hierarchy made the decision final.

‎With Mbappé now set to don the No. 10, all eyes are on who will rise to claim the legendary No. 9 shirt next – the electric Endrick or the emerging García.
