Boost for Corps Members as Adamawa State Enhances Welfare Package and Unveils Infrastructure Plans at NYSC Orientation Camp
In a significant move aimed at improving the welfare of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members, the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has approved an increase in their monthly allowance from ₦20,000 to ₦30,000.
Governor Fintiri announced on Friday during the official opening ceremony of the 2025 Batch B Stream I NYSC Orientation Camp held at Damare in the state capital. The gesture was warmly received by the corps members and NYSC officials present at the event, marking a notable improvement in their living conditions while serving in the state.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Fintiri reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth development and national service. He emphasized that the upward review of the corps members’ stipends is a reflection of the state government's recognition of the vital roles they play in community development, education, health, and other critical sectors.
“This increment is part of our deliberate efforts to make the service year more meaningful and rewarding for young Nigerians posted to our state,” the governor stated.
Beyond the allowance hike, the governor also revealed that the state government has commenced plans for the construction of a new, state-of-the-art NYSC permanent orientation camp. According to him, seasoned professionals across relevant disciplines have already been engaged to handle the design and execution of the project.
The proposed NYSC camp is expected to feature modern facilities that will enhance training, comfort, and the overall experience of corps members during their orientation program and throughout their service year.
Governor Fintiri also shared updates on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, stating, “Today, I declared open the 2025 Batch B Stream I NYSC Orientation in Damare. I announced an increase in corps members’ monthly allowance from ₦20,000 to ₦30,000. We’re also set to build a new NYSC camp, with professionals in relevant fields engaged in the project.”
The announcement has been widely praised across social media platforms and among youth stakeholders, with many describing it as a commendable step toward enhancing national service and encouraging young people to give their best during their mandatory one-year service.
This development places Adamawa among the few Nigerian states that have taken proactive measures to support NYSC members financially, especially amid rising living costs and inflation.
