‎New No.9 vows to write history with the Reds after record-breaking transfer

‎Liverpool has completed the sensational signing of Alexander Isak in a British record £125 million deal, with the Swedish forward declaring his ambition to win “everything” after sealing a long-term contract at Anfield.

‎The 25-year-old arrives from Newcastle United, where he scored 62 goals in 109 appearances across three impressive seasons. His move was finalized on deadline day, instantly making him one of the Premier League’s most high-profile transfers of recent years. Shortly after putting pen to paper, Isak expressed his pride at joining the reigning champions and revealed his eagerness to begin the next chapter of his career in red.

‎“I feel amazing,” he said. “It’s been a long journey to get here, but I’m super-happy to be a part of this club and everything it stands for. I’m proud, motivated, and looking forward to getting started.”

‎The striker admitted that wearing the famous Liver bird crest brought a sense of pride and responsibility, particularly as he takes on Liverpool’s iconic No.9 shirt. “It means a lot, it’s an iconic number and it comes with responsibility. Seeing my name and number on the back of the jersey for the first time was beautiful. My family loved it too.”

‎Asked why he chose Liverpool, Isak pointed to both the club’s rich history and its ambitions for the future. “I think it’s a mixture of what the club is building, but also the tradition and history. I want to create history, I want to win trophies. This is the perfect place for me to grow further, take my game to the next level, and help the team.”

‎Isak has already scored twice at Anfield as an opponent, though both appearances ended in defeat for Newcastle. He described the stadium as “extraordinary” and is relishing the chance to now play in front of the Kop as one of their own. “It’s very difficult to come here as an opponent. The atmosphere is something special. I’m excited to finally be a part of that.”

‎The forward also reflected on the challenge of previously facing Liverpool’s elite defenders, including Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté. “They’re some of the best defenders in the world. I always loved testing myself against Liverpool, but it’s going to be much better playing for Liverpool.”

‎Looking ahead, Isak is eager to link up with the club’s dynamic attack, which features Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Hugo Ekitike, and Florian Wirtz. “You’re mentioning world-class players. They’ve done well when I’ve faced them, and now it’s going to be great to be on the same team. I just want to bring my qualities, contribute to goals, and have a great season.”

‎Although he has had a restricted summer with limited match action, the striker hopes to be available soon after joining up with the Sweden national team during the international break. “I’ve had a tricky summer without games, so it’s about analysing where I am physically. But I certainly want to play as soon as possible.”

‎With his arrival, Liverpool has not only secured one of Europe’s most clinical forwards but also sent a clear statement of intent in the transfer market. Isak, in turn, is ready to repay the club’s faith with goals, trophies, and unforgettable moments.

‎“To the fans, I just want to say I’m so happy I’m finally here. I can’t wait to get back out there hopefully we can share some amazing moments.”
