Nasarawa governor vows swift justice, reinforces intelligence networks to protect lives and sustain peace across the state
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has ordered an immediate and comprehensive security operation following a deadly armed attack on the Sarkin Noma community in Keana Local Government Area, which claimed two lives and resulted in the abduction of one person.
In a statement released by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Peter Ahemba, the governor expressed deep concern over the incident, describing it as both “unacceptable and a direct threat to the peace and stability of Nasarawa State.” He emphasized that his administration would not allow criminal elements to undermine the relative peace that the state has enjoyed in recent months.
“The government will not tolerate any form of lawlessness or violence. We are fully committed to protecting every life and property in Nasarawa State,” the statement quoted the governor as saying.
Governor Sule directed security agencies to immediately launch a full-scale manhunt for the perpetrators of the attack, with firm instructions to ensure their prompt arrest and prosecution. He stressed that the state would work hand-in-hand with security operatives to identify those behind the violence and prevent further occurrences.
According to Ahemba, the state government has already initiated a coordinated response involving security agencies and community leaders aimed at enhancing local intelligence gathering and reinforcing security patrols in vulnerable areas. These proactive measures, he noted, are designed to ensure that criminal elements have no hiding place within the state.
“We are implementing new security strategies to strengthen surveillance and protect communities. Citizens are encouraged to support security agencies with timely and credible information that could help track down perpetrators of crime,” Ahemba stated.
Governor Sule also appealed to residents of Keana and other parts of the state to remain calm and law-abiding while cooperating with law enforcement agencies during ongoing operations. He assured the public that his administration is doing everything possible to restore normalcy and prevent any escalation of tension.
“The public should be assured that everything possible is being done to safeguard lives and property,” the governor added, reaffirming his commitment to maintaining peace and order across Nasarawa.
Governor Sule reiterated that the state government remains unwavering in its mission to preserve Nasarawa as a secure and peaceful environment conducive for development and harmonious coexistence. He called for unity among citizens, emphasizing that peace and security are collective responsibilities that require vigilance, cooperation, and trust between the people and the government.
