Dozens arrested, over 20 exotic cars recovered as operatives disrupt late-night pool party at Abeokuta’s Green Legacy Hotel.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has carried out a dramatic midnight raid at the Green Legacy Hotel, situated within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta, Ogun State, arresting several youths suspected to be internet fraudsters.
The operation, conducted in the early hours of Sunday by EFCC operatives from the Lagos Directorate, reportedly disrupted an ongoing pool party, sending guests scrambling for safety as gunshots rang out. Over 20 luxury cars and other valuable items were confiscated during the raid.
Eyewitness videos circulating online captured the chaotic scene, with attendees fleeing the venue. Social media posts from those who narrowly avoided the bust have added to the buzz surrounding the incident.
This latest raid comes just five days after EFCC’s Ibadan Zonal Directorate arrested 55 suspects, including one found with two locally-made pistols, during a similar operation at K-Hotel in Itori, Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Confirming the Abeokuta operation, the Managing Director of OOPL Ventures, Vitalis Ortese, acknowledged the incident but said details were still being gathered. “Yes, they did. There was an incident this morning. We will find out and we will let you know,” he told reporters.
When contacted, EFCC spokespersons Ayo Oyewole and Dele Oyewale both said they would provide further updates after verifying the details of the raid.
