Euphoric NULGE President hails administration’s dedication to welfare reforms, calls the development a historic milestone for local government staff.
In a moment of jubilation for local government workers across Kogi State, the President of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comrade Mohammed Sanusi, has commended Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo for the recent release of long-awaited promotion letters for LG staff.
The promotion letters for 2022 were officially presented to the Commissioner, Cothe Commission, Sanusi, Chairman of the Kogi State Local Government Service Commission, Alhaji Adams Adabenege, through the Director of Administration and Finance. The Commission also announced that the 2023 batch of promotion letters is set to be released in the coming week, in line with Governor Ododo's directive.
Describing the development as a landmark achievement, Comr. Sanusi praised the Ododo-led administration for prioritizing the welfare of grassroots workers. “It’s been one good news after another since the emergence of Governor Ododo. Local Government workers have never had it this good,” he said.
He went further to describe the Governor as “God-sent,” noting that the administration has transformed the once-troubled working conditions of LG staff into a success story. According to Sanusi, the consistent implementation of pro-worker policies under Gov. Ododo has significantly boosted morale and productivity in local councils.
He also acknowledged the critical role of the Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, whom he referred to as a “workaholic,” lauding his relentless commitment to achieving the Governor’s vision for LG staff. “His dedication, diligence, and strong work ethic have been instrumental in driving these positive changes,” Sanusi added.
In his remarks, the Commission Chairman, represented by the Director of Administration and Finance, reaffirmed the government's commitment to LG staff welfare, emphasizing that local government administration remains a top priority for the Ododo administration.
Comr. Sanusi also extended his gratitude to the State’s Local Government Service Commissioners and administrative staff for their collaborative efforts in improving workers' welfare. “Posterity will remember them for the joy they have brought to the faces of LG workers in Kogi,” he concluded.
